Healthy You! Vitamins Who Knew

A good friend of mine wrote this amazing book all about vitamins from A to Z
below she will tell you all about why you need this book

My name is Gretchen Theakston and I am a Nurse in Canada and have been for over 20 years.
I have worked in a wide variety of areas in my profession but eventually ended up in Emergency Medicine.
I must say that I loved it there. There was always something new to learn and always interesting people
passing through. From one day to the next the people and problems changed and were ever-evolving.
Nursing changed a lot during my career as well, some good, some bad like other professions.
Learning to adapt and being willing to change is a hallmark of this profession and I am grateful
to have that perspective.

This Pandemic has left many people reeling about the upheaval and changes constantly being thrown at them.
Every day is a new adventure in uncertainty and some days it is just overwhelming.
So, how can we start to take back control and find small pieces of sanity and routine to help us get through this?
That was the question I had been asking myself as I watched this Pandemic unfold across the world.

How did we get here and how do we take care of ourselves and our families?
When is it going to end and what can I do?

Big questions and I was not finding very many good or long-term answers.
So, like a good nurse and a person who loves research, I started looking for
answers in the health care professional bodies. I came across some helpful answers,
some not so helpful and I followed along as Dr’s discussed symptomatology and treatments.
What to look for, what works, what doesn’t, what do the labs say, are there new models that
have potential, how long for a vaccine, what is the likelihood that a vaccine will work.
Any new information coming from countries all over the world I was reading.

The one thing that surprised me and the doctors were, why are seemingly healthy people getting sick?
What are we missing?
Is there any way to predict who will survive and who will get sick?

The answer came and it was not good news. No-one is exempt, no one.
Yes, the elderly are more likely to die as they have fragile immune systems but no one is exempt.

What to do then?
What were we all missing?
Did anyone have a good answer?

I don’t think I have found it but the one thing that everyone has in common is the food
they eat and the problems with our food chain. I wasn’t surprised by this thought creeping into my brain.

We have heard about the problems before. It isn’t news.
Eating the way we have become accustomed to has presented various studies that ask that very question.
Is our diet contributing to our present state of worldwide behaviours that could be making us more susceptible
to this type of Pandemic model and could this happen again?

That was a scary question and the answer was even scarier.
That answer was YES.

I know that many of us have been asking ourselves what we can do to be healthier.
How can we make changes that will benefit us now and in the long run?

That is what I will be discussing.

I am going to cover Vitamins from A – Z.
What they are, how they work in us and where and how to get them, and most importantly,
why we need them and how much per day.

How has the government played a part in our diet and how has it affected us?
Has it helped or harmed us?

Is fat really your enemy? And much more.
I hope you will join me on this discovery I am on.
This Pandemic has given me time to really look at what we do and what we depend on
and how it affects us daily. I wanted answers and I found some and I drew my own
conclusions on some as well.

This is not a research paper and this is not my field but rest assured that I will be giving
information and citing the papers and people who I have found give sound advice.

If you would like to take some of my advice, please check with your Family Dr. or other professionals.
This is not my profession.  I am a nurse who loves discovering new research and sharing it with others.
Thank you for your interest.
